The Ministry of Minerals, Oil and Gas was established on the 23rd of January, 2009 to oversee the solid minerals and petroleum sectors of the State. The Minerals, oil and gas sector has the potential to generate employment, increase the technical capacity of local workers in the sector, and enable stakeholders to partner with the State Government to develop the host communities.
To harness all available solid mineral and petroleum resources for the overall development of the State with particular reference to mineral producing communities thereby making Edo State a core Oil and Mineral producing State.
To facilitate the implementation of Government policies in revenue generation from solid minerals including oil and gas, and for infrastructural development and job creation from the exploitation of solid mineral, oil and gas for the people of the State.
