PERMANENT SECRETARY ASSURED OF GOVERNMENT PLANS ON YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
The Permanent Secretary, Edo Sate Ministry of Infrastructure, Engr. Ferguson Enabulele has expressed government readiness and passion on youth empowerment and development across the state.
The Permanent Secretary made the assertion when members and the National President of Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCIN), Mr. Abiola Olorunsola paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Benin City.
The Permanent Secretary noted that Edo State government under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki hold youth development top most on agenda. Adding that several youths have been trained on different aspects of entrepreneurial skills to become self-dependent.
Mr. Abiola Olorunsola, while giving an overview of JCIN frame work, stated that, Junior Chamber International is a non-profit, international, non-governmental organization of young people between 18-40 years of age, which aims is to encourage young people to become active citizens of good will and understanding, international cooperation, participating in deliberate efforts towards social and economic development for the country and the nation at large.
Mr. Abiolaalso stated that JCI organizes programs annually were awards are given to ten outstanding youths as a motivation.
He added that, using the JCI frame work, the organization have been able to know and evaluate the kind of project needed in a particular community that will be sustainable.
He further added that the organization looks forward to partnering with Edo State Government to organize leadership academy for Edo youths.
The Permanent Secretary therefor thanked the members of Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCIN) for their visit and assured them that he will communicate their intention to the Governor and that the Ministry of Infrastructure will appoint a focal officer that will oversee the affairs of JCI related matters in the Ministry.
