CONTRACTORS BACK TO SITE – COMMISSIONER
Edo State Commissioner for Infrastructure, Hon. John Osagie Inegbedion said that work is ongoing in different parts of Edo State as contractors have returned to site after the raining and yuletide season.
The Commissioner made this assertion during an inspection visit to ongoing construction sites around Benin metropolis.
Sites visited to ascertain the level and quality of work done includes, Ugbor Amagba Road, Textile Mill Road, and Ekehuan Road.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner reiterated that flooding problem around Ugbor Amagba, Ekehuan Road and Textile Mill Road axis will soon be a thing of the past, as the state government is putting in more effort and resources in tackling flooding problem in the areas.
He added that the ongoing construction of underground drainage system at Textile Mill Road will deal with flooding problem around Textile Mill Road axis including, Iyeoba Street, Omozogie Street, Canaan Street, part of Second West Circular Road and environs.
Also speaking during the inspection visit, the Director of Construction, Ministry of Infrastructure, Engr. John Obanor gave an overview of the reconstruction of Ugbor Amagba/Godwin Abbey Road with a total Length of 12.340km, 8.0m width (1) and 9.0m width (2). Noting that the project when completed will have a link to Limit road, Country Home road, Obazagbon, Ebo and Irhirhi Communities.
The supervising engineer from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Engr. Faith Ojo said that the excavation of Ugbor Amagba moat will accommodate the volume of erosion from 1+075 to 3+500 of the environs and will also ease the free flow of erosion.
Engr. Faith added that the construction of surface and underground drainage system at textile mill road is a major project with a length of 4.67km, 11.2m width (1), 7.3m width (2) and links Siluko road, Egor, Uselu and Ogida.
Resident at Ugbor Amagba Community, Mr. Edwin Osayande praised and thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for the good work he is doing in the Community, adding that erosion problem has become a thing of the past in the area.
