The Ministry of Minerals, Oil and Gas
was established on the 23rd of January, 2009 to oversee the solid
minerals and petroleum sectors of the State. The Minerals, oil and gas sector

Government to develop the host communities. Investment opportunities exist for
operators of mines and quarries, processors of minerals, oil and gas services
companies and petroleum refineries.

is in line with the policy of the Federal Government on the sector aimed at
integrating artisan miners into the formal sector and promoting mineral
processing and value addition enterprises.
Other functions include monitoring
the activities of the petroleum monitoring committee and the activities of the
Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC)
through the office of the Honourable Commissioner.
